Pffff

It’s outrageous! I cannot tolerate Egypt! It’s not the people I’m against, in fact I think they’re one of the most knowledgeable and positively active cultures among Arabs, but man their government is corrupt. Big time.

George Galloway is a British MP famous for resenting the Western occupation of Afghanistan, Iraq, and most importantly, Palestine. He’s one amazing speaker - watch his speeches on YouTube. On Friday, 8th Jan 2010, he has been DEPORTED from Egypt! Why? Well the news would say that he’s passed the Rafah crossing from Gaza to Egypt, but I would say it’s because he’s an honest man trying to be humane on Egyptian land. What next Egypt? What next Arabs?

  1. But why did he chose that route ?
He says that he has documents that prior to the trip they had allowed him but I suspect he did this to break the siege
What did he obtain in the end ?
Not all trucks could go in and now they will be tougher with those who will follow

  2. i seriously don't know how the Egyptian regime can be so inhumane. They need to really draw the line between politics and humanitarian. If they have issues with Hamas thats understandable but you just can't punish a whole population for electing Hamas. Think children, women, elders for God sake. This is just sickening. People of Egypt need to stand up. If they could protest when losing a football game why can't you protest when children are dying because your government is not allowing food and medicine into Gaza. What's the difference between Egypt's govt and Israel really?? may Allah guide us.

  3. Balqis: I don't really know much about the documents and all, but I did read somewhere that his aims were more "political" rather than just getting the aid there. He wanted the "seige on Gaza" issue to be highlighted in the media so that something real could happen to make the change. I do realise things are worse now (there's even more security at the crossing) but in the long run maybe that's for the best, for a real change to take place. It's not like much aid was allowed to cross previously anyway.

El nino: I agree, it seems like Egypt's government has gone nuts. However, even though the media hasn't shown any complaints from the Egyptian people doesn't mean nothing has happened. Further, there could be internal movements going on that haven't surfaced yet.

All in all, may Allah fix the situation ASAP.
